PROPERTY TAX REFORM will be on the BALLOT in NOVEMBER

PROPERTY TAX REFORM will be on the BALLOT in NOVEMBER
Everyone is talking about property taxes. Almost nobody is talking about power.
I live in Deltona. I pay property taxes. I feel the burden too. And I support giving Florida homeowners the choice at the ballot box this November.
But here is what isn’t being said:
Property taxes aren’t just a bill.
They are what allows Volusia County to govern itself. Remove that revenue and the County Council doesn’t disappear
— it becomes dependent on Tallahassee. And whoever controls the money controls the decisions.
When Volusia County can’t fund its own Sheriff’s deputies, firefighters, and ambulances
— it goes to the state with its hands out. At that point the Governor effectively becomes our county manager. A position he was never elected to hold.
And here is the part nobody mentions: the bill doesn’t disappear.
It changes addresses. Fire assessments. Stormwater fees. Special assessments buried in your tax bill.
Those are NOT covered by homestead relief. They can be raised locally with far less scrutiny.
That is a local fight — and one I will fight every day as your County Council representative.
I support tax relief.
I also believe you deserve the
full picture.
The question isn’t whether Volusia County residents will pay for local government. We will.
The question is
HOW — and WHO DECIDES.
See you Thursday night in DeBary at the VFW 6:30 PM
